My Top 4 Postpartum Necessities

Updated: Dec 28, 2023

Giving birth is both amazing and hard. The way my body can bring another human into this world is a miracle! But after that little human has been born, recovering is painful and overwhelming.

I have a list of my top 5 items that I feel are absolutely necessary to have during the postpartum period.

1. Tucks

Yes. Hemorrhoids. I mean, what can you expect? You've just pushed as hard as you can to get that baby out (if you had a vaginal birth). Naturally you are likely to push out some hemorrhoids as well!

Honestly, Tucks helped soothe where I had torn and been stitched up as well. The hospital provided a container for me while I was there, but I definitely needed to use them longer than the few days I was there. I highly recommend these to help keep you cooling and healing down there.

You can buy them really at any grocery store, or if you don't feel like waddling around the store you can order them off of Amazon here!

You know that you aren't able to use toilet paper for two weeks if you have delivered vaginally. The peri bottles they give you at the hospital are nice, but this one is great because it reaches alllll the way back! Very convenient when you take your first poop after delivery 😐.

I'll be honest, I actually love the postpartum underwear that they give you at the hospital. It is stretchy, they are breathable, and yet they hold those incredibly large pads in place! However, eventually you run out. Luckily I found these ones on Amazon! They also hold the pads in place, are stretchy, and comfortable. You can get there here!

Okay, I'll be honest. I didn't use these exact bath salts during my last postpartum recovery. However, in researching different bath salts, these ones had really good reviews! In reading about it, I wish I had used these ones. Postpartum recovery is rough and does a lot to your emotions. Postpartum depression can hit pretty hard, and these salts have mood-boosting aromas. Not only that, but if you popped out some hemorrhoids, the bath salts help sooth and heal them. You can get them on Amazon here.

Well, there you have it! Good luck and know that the pain of postpartum was pass :)
