Ah boxing. Such an awesome workout to make you feel empowered and SUPER tough! Like, bring it on! 10 Rounds is an awesome program! The whole program is 6 weeks long and gets to be pretty intense. The first week is great because you simply learn the different kinds of punches. The program progressively gets harder and by the end of week 6 you are KICKING BUTT!
Here is what I liked about the program:
1- He finishes every single workout with working your core. My stomach has always been a trouble spot for me (thank you kids), so I am happy to get in some extra core work.
2- I love that the program progressively intensifies. You never plateau. You never get to stay in that comfort zone. And that is how you achieve change.
3- You don't just box in this program. There are 2 weight lifting days each week, so this really is a total body workout. Your whole body is getting toned and you are burning fat everywhere.
Here is the one thing that I didn't like:
1- You stay in the same stance for the whole 6 weeks. Let me explain:
There is the "boxing stance" where you have one foot in front of the other. It looks like this:
Beautifully demonstrated by one of the cast members in the program (Sophia). Your non-dominant leg is the front leg. And whichever leg is your non-dominant one is the one that stays in front for the whole 6 weeks. You don't switch sides like you would typically do for a basic kickboxing class. For me, my non-dominant leg is my left leg (I'm right-handed). That felt suuuuuper weird to me. I felt like each side wasn't getting worked the same amount.
At first I would just randomly switch sides just so I would feel like I was equally getting worked (which I wasn't). Then I ended up just staying with my right leg in front (which is what someone who is left-handed would do). I did the whole program that way and it ended being pretty good.
Now I am currently doing the program again, but this time with the correct side in front. Both my right side and left side do get worked just great. It just was an adjustment for me since I was used to changing sides in other boxing programs. I have no idea if that even makes sense!
You do need equipment for this program, but it is minimal. You need weights (I personally like these ones) and loops. I like to use the loops that Beachbody offers just so I can be using the exact same resistance they are, but these ones work just great too.
Now, do I recommend this program? YES! Do you have to be an exercise freak to do this program? NO! You may feel like you look like a crazy chicken with its head cut off as you are trying to throw punches, but that doesn't matter! You just need to MOVE your body! So.... get going! :)
