I LOVE decorating for birthday parties! It is seriously so fun for me!
I was looking back through some old photos and found some from Colton's 2 year old birthday party. He absolutely loved diggers (he still does to this day!), so I decided to throw a construction themed birthday party! I wanted to share ideas for food and decorations, so here we go!
First off, the cake!

I had my friend @victoriaspieceacake make this cute cake for his party. I purchased those cute little diggers on Amazon here.
Other food items I did were:

Tortilla pinwheels as "Pre-Built Sandwiches". In the background of the picture to the left, you see "Lumber". For that I had mini weenies in the crockpot. You can't see it in this picture, but I also had another crockpot with meatballs, labeled "Wrecking Balls".

I used Ruffles Chips as the "Wood Chips" and Lay's Dip as the "Cement".

I used a Melon Baller to scoop out a cantaloupe and watermelon for "Boulders".

"Mud & Dirt" cups were a great addition to the cake as a dessert. I got the recipe here. It would have been cute to add little gummy worms, but..... I forgot to get them. But they were just as tasty :)

And finally for the drinks, AKA the "Refueling Station", I just used lemonade and added sliced strawberries to it.
Now, when you put it all together, you get a simple but delicious lunch! The picture below doesn't do the cuteness justice. I'm not a photographer, okay??

Real quick, let me tell you about the decorations. I have one crappy picture, so I'm not going to use it. Instead, I'm going to post the one shown on Amazon:
You can get those here. Also off of Amazon I got some little orange construction cones that I set out on the steps to our door. We actually still use them today, just as actual cones to practice sports!
Now, if I could go back in time, I would have gotten this set:
I could have saved myself time and money had I just gotten this set.... but instead I ordered everything separately. And the things I ordered weren't even as cute as that! So don't do what I did, just buy that set up there!
Well, and that's it! Have fun throwing your kid a construction themed birthday party! Even if they don't remember all of the hard work you put in making it a fun themed party, you will. And so will all the pictures you take! Proof that you are an awesome parent :)
