Aloha! I wanted to share what we did as the theme for my daughter's first birthday: Luau!

ree

Let's start off with the cake. I wanted to do a pineapple shaped cake! But..... I had some serious issues. Let's just say that I'm not meant to be a baker in my life.

First fail: I filled up the cake pans with wayyyyyy too much batter! So they overflowed!

ree

Second fail: I dropped one of the pans after I took it out of the oven.

So I was left with about 1/4 of the cake that I wanted, but in the end I think it turned out okay:

I found the cake decorations here on Amazon:

And to reinforce that I'm not meant to be a baker, the cake apparently didn't taste very good either:

Let's talk decorations (my favorite part)!

You already saw the first picture in the post that had a closer look at the table area. Here are the decorations:

I got the "Happy Birthday" banner and the cute "Aloha"garland here from Amazon.

Next, I love hanging decorations from my ceiling! So I got these cute hanging luau decorations from Amazon as well!

Then I got this table skirt to add even more Hawaiian feels to the party:

These pineapple centerpieces added the perfect touch to the top of the table:

Then I just had some streamers, got some balloons at the store, and used some pink confetti stuff that I found in with garage.... and there you have it!

Real quick, let's talk food!

I made the classic Hawaiian Haystacks meal for this birthday party! We had the sauce (there is a good recipe for that here), rice, some good toppings, fruit, and those delicious "Kings Hawaiian" rolls.

I had someone local make these cute cookies:

And I made some cupcakes, that didn't turn out very cute. But at least those tasted good, no one started crying like Layla did with her cake!

Okay last thing, Layla's freaking cute outfit!

ree

No, I don't always dress my kids up for their birthday parties, but she just happened to wear this for Halloween the day before, so why not?

You can find the one pictured above here, along with some other color options.

Well folks, that's what I've got! Aloha!
